salvor (n.) — a person engaged in salvage of a ship or items lost at sea.

Before modern diving, salvors were the bravest men in the water. When ships went down at Pearl Harbor, it was Navy Divers who answered the call — descending into flooded hulls, working blind, racing against time to recover what was lost. To signal their position inside the wreck, they'd beat a familiar rhythm against the steel: shave and haircut, two bits. That call-and-response still echoes through dive culture today.

The Salvor Hat is a tribute to those men and that moment — the inception of military diving as we know it. Wear it as a nod to the ones who went first.
